Last Thursday 7th of November, the annual gathering of AER took place in Universidad de Vigo (Galicia).
This edition was held with the presence of more than 100 associates including a memorable moment consisting of providing the Honorary Membership status to four professionals that made notable contributions throughout the association's history: Prof. Luis Basañez (founding member of the International Federation of Robotics), Salvador Giró (former President of AER Automation), Miquel Seriola (President of IDASA, represented by Urko Esnaola) and Juan Luis Elorriaga (also former President of AER Automation, represented by Laurent Bodin).
After the institutional welcome, the event kicked-off with a round table that ran on the impact that innovation has in the competitiveness of companies at local, regional and even global level and the technologies that are enabling this progress in robotics such as computer vision and cloud computing. The table was moderated by BitMetrics' CEO in conversation with senior directors including: Patricia Moreira (President of CEAGA), Chelo Domínguez (Plant Director, GKN Automotive Vigo), Josefina Alonso (Operations Director, DIHGIGAL) and Ana Paul (Innovation Director, CTAG).
A remarkable speech about the increasing importance of robotics and how Spain is performing in comparison with peer European countries was made by Ms Susanne Bieller, General Secretary of the https://ifr.org/https://ifr.org/.
In addition, leaders from working groups and committees of the association explained the progress made throughout 2024.
The last part of the event was a round table moderated by Aureli Vázquez with the title "Humanism and Technology" with the participation of Javier Recuenco and Jordi Vallverdú.
The event closed with a gala dinner at Hotel Pazo de los Escudos.
